Prayer Concerns

Prayer Concerns

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hears and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:6-7

Pause to Pray…

A text message goes out from the Pastor that a member is in Baptist Hospital in a coma, while anxious family members remain here in Roanoke, separated from the loved one. On behalf of the family, the Pastor is sharing the loved one’s condition and seeking prayer support. Within moments, there are as many as 15-20 responses from RHBC members–pausing in the midst of their daily activity–to have a conversation with God about the situation of this family. And, this prayerful process is repeated again and again as this health issue continues. This is just one example of the vibrant prayer life of RHBC members.

Another focus of prayer life for members at RHBC is the List of Prayer Concerns which you’ll find on this page of the web site. Typically, names appear on this list in one of two ways: 1) an individual shares a prayer concern and requests that his or her name be added to the list; or 2) with the individual’s permission, the prayer concern is shared by a member of RHBC, and the individual’s name is added to the list. Members of RHBC focus prayer support for these concerns in multiple ways throughout the times of need: prayers of support via small group Bible study on Sunday mornings, gatherings for Wednesday night Bible study, messages written on prayer cards that are mailed to individuals, and/or through direct contact with the individual and/or family members.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13
