Worship (Phase Three)

Morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary each Sunday morning. On a typical Sunday (outside the guidelines of the pandemic), you’ll want to be in the sanctuary early to greet folks you already know and/or make new friends who are joining us for worship for the first time. In addition, you’ll hear announcements about upcoming events, learn how prayer concerns are shared, and learn more about the daily life of RHBC. As followers of Christ, we worship our…

Something for Everyone

There’s something for YOU every Wednesday evening at RHBC! Sounds of handbells and chimes begin to ring out at 5:00 p.m. for children in the choir suite. At 5:20 p.m. everyone gathers in the fellowship hall for a dinner catered by our cafeteria staff. Following dinner, parents of young children focus on faith in film at 6:00 p.m., while other adults study the Bible with the pastor. Booknet

Let’s encourage and enable some children to “get lost” in the pages of exciting adventures, explore countries they may “visit,” discover hobbies they’ve never considered, and/or develop relationships with pen pals who might share interests. These are just a few of the ways in which life can blossom when children have access to a wealth of books! Through project Booknet, we can make life brighter and broader for children in some of the schools of southwest Virginia. Booknet is one…

Pray for Baptist Associations

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20 As Christians, paramount among our prayer concerns and goal of outreach is the spread of the gospel with the abiding hope…

Deacons, Doughnuts, and Donations

On each fifth Sunday the Deacons of RHBC host a special Love Offering with the goal of replenishing the Deacon Fund. This fund is used to assist RHBC members in times of crises who express needs for financial assistance. A team of Deacons prayerfully considers each request and, when able, contributes to the aid of the member in stress. Members may contribute to the Deacon Fund in one of two ways on the Fifth Sunday devoted to replenishing the benevolent…

Advent: First Sunday

Advent…the Coming! As Christians, we are eagerly anticipating the coming of Jesus Christ at Christmas! To prepare spiritually we symbolize the sanctity of this season through a succession of four Advent worship services beginning this year on Sunday, November 29, 2020. At the heart of each of these services is an element of the Advent Wreath. A bed of evergreen branches, a circular wreath, symbolizes the eternity of God. Resting on the wreath are five candles: typically three purple; one…
