 | Facts About the Rosalind Hills Baptist Church Food Pantry |
The Food Pantry is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM (noon). Anyone who resides in these zip codes: 24012, 24014, 24015, 24016 and 24018 may visit the Food Pantry.
Identification is requested and a form must be filled out to qualify for USDA food. If a client does not qualify for government funded food, they will still receive food that has been otherwise donated to our Food Pantry.

Our Food Pantry serves over 1800 households per year which feeds more than 9,000 persons.

It costs about $28,000 a year to fund the Food Pantry

We use paper grocery bags to hand out food.

We need at least 2000 bags per year to offer food to our clients.

The Food Pantry gets most of it's food from the Second Harvest Food Bank and Local Grocery Stores.

The Food is paid for by donations to our Food Pantry Benevolence fund and by folks who visit our Mission Store. Presently, all who contribute are members and friends of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church.

The Food Pantry is open two days per week, Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m.- 12:00 noon. Clients may visit the Food Pantry once a month.

A group of people who serve on the church’s Food Pantry Team and others volunteer to work.

The volunteers have a monthly schedule and a substitute list with a volunteer coordinator.

When clients come to the Food Pantry we are required to fill out paperwork for the USDA food that we provide.

Our Food Pantry was recently inspected by the Second Harvest Food Bank on our yearly inspection schedule. We received a favorable report.

There is presently a prayer room and volunteers who come when the Food Pantry is open to pray for and with clients if they request it.

Prayer cards are sent to clients who have requested them from the Food Pantry.

Two or more people go once a month to the Second Harvest Food Bank to pick up free USDA food or purchase and pick up donated warehouse food at a reduced rate. The food is then unloaded by volunteers at a time when the Food Pantry is closed.

Non-perishable food items are always needed to stock our emergency food shelves. We distribute that food to those who are having a particularly difficult time and those who are not presently living in one of the zip codes we serve with USDA food items.

| Each year in December the church sponsors a Community Christmas party for the participants of the Food Pantry, It is usually held on the first Saturday in December. Breakfast is served, food boxes are distributed and the participants are treated to a Christmas program presented by our Children's Choir. |

 | What Can You Do? |
• Sponsor a Canned Food Drive.
• Make a Financial Donation.
• Help us find partners, such as churches, institutions, individuals or businesses who are willing to help us fund our Food Pantry.
• Pray for the prayer requests that come to us through the Food Pantry. (A list can be provided along with prayer cards.)
• Volunteer to help when the Food Pantry is open or when it is not.
• Volunteer to help at functions created to support the Food Pantry. Many volunteers are usually needed. It is very rewarding work.
