Cathy Harris, Minister to Children
Education: BS in Early Childhood Education from Radford University; teaching experience at Grandin Court Elementary and Floyd Elementary schools.

Cathy has a variety of professional experience to her credit from working in the local school system. Church work is no stranger to Cathy as she has been a Sunday school teacher, VBS director, as well as participated in numerous outreaches and ministries. Perhaps that which enables Cathy to have valuable insight is that she is the mother of three boys: John, born in 1990, Andrew, born in 1991, and David, born in 1995.

After settling in Roanoke and attending Radford University, she met and married Nelson Harris who serves as Pastor of a local congregation.
Cathy began her ministry with RHBC for the first time as part-time Minister to Children for approximately a year in l998. Her husband accepted a call to the pastorate of a local church and Cathy followed in support of him and her family. Since that time, her boys have reached an age where she felt free to accept a call back into full time Christian ministry. She began as full time Minister to Children in March, 2006.

Rev. David Miller, Minister to Youth
Education: BA degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Virginia Tech; BS in Christian Ministry, Bluefield College.

Isaac, 8, is on a quest to build the best Lego creation, ever, and Grace, having just turned 6, is well on her way to becoming a world renowned artist. Add their almost seven year old black lab, Rhoda, to the mix and you’ve got what they affectionately call “the house of chaos.”

Heather is an active member of her church, helping in various areas where assistance is needed from the office, to the nursery, to the youth group, and sometimes even teaching the adults on Wednesday nights. She’s an avid reader, writer, and lifelong learner. Heather is slightly addicted to her iPod Touch and she’s never met a potato that she didn’t like.

When she’s not taxiing children to and fro, helping with homework, or refereeing a Nerf gun war, you’ll find her one of two places… watching old episodes of Law & Order: SVU or blogging.
