Sermon: First Things First
Discipleship…Defining Who We Are
First Things First
Matthew 22:15-22
“Then he said to them, ‘Whose head is this, and whose title?’ They answered, ‘The emperor’s.’ Then he said to them, ‘Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’”
- Matthew 22:20-21
“Disciples of Jesus respect authority. They know who guides them, who provides for them. And who ultimately cares about their entire future. As disciples, we are to render to God first in our respect of authority. When we do, everything else falls into place.”
Sermon: Becoming Fearless
Discipleship…Defining Who We Are
“Becoming Fearless”
Luke 5:1-11
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.’”
~Luke 5:4-5
“Sometimes we’re hesitant to move away from our own understanding. Some call it ‘stepping outside their comfort zone’ while others say that its merely ‘thinking outside the box.’ Whatever the description we choose to think about, the truth of the matter is, many of us are scared to move into a ‘deeper’ relationship with God. After all, as disciples, He may call us to trust that God has our best in mind.”

Sermon: Whatever!
COMMITMENT…TIME TO CARRY ON
Whatever!
2 Timothy 1:1-14
For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you …Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace.
- 2 Timothy 1:6,8-9a
“At times, being committed to out faith is rather difficult. For some it comes as a struggle, for others they place their faith on the back burner. And yet for others, they seem to say ‘whatever’ in regards to their commitment, and simply give up hope. Paul’s words to Timothy were words of encouragement; a simple reminder of the faith that Paul had witnessed in Timothy on several occasions. Do you need a reminder? Look at those who have been blessed just by knowing you. At the top of the list should be the name Jesus.”
